Oddball Wednesday - Willowbrook Crusader bodied Ward Dalesman

The following is a post written by Kieran before his decision to leave the blog.

Both the Ward Dalesman chassis and Willowbrook Crusader bodies are rarities within themselves, but combined together even more so.

In 1982 Ward began production of the 12 metre Dalesman chassis with Perkins engine. Just ten were ever built before Ward came into financial difficulty. An eleventh was near complete when the company collapsed in late 1983.

The eleventh was without an engine or a gearbox and stayed as it was until 1986 when the chassis shell passed to Mackie's of Alloa. Its production was completed here with the addition of a Cummins engine, rather than the usual Perkins, and the fitting of the unusual Willowbrook Crusader bodywork.
