Oddball Wednesday - Plaxton Bus 2000

One of just 2 Plaxton Bus 2000s (Richard Grantham/EYBusMan)
The following is a post written several months ago but previously never published.

For this week's Oddball Wednesday we take a look at a duo of buses produced when bus manufacturers were braced with the threat from the superpowers of Alexander and Dennis merging.

Plaxton and Volvo teamed up to produce the rather stylish Bus 2000 concept model, which was intended to replace the Pointer 2. It was based upon the B6BLE chassis, which would soon be succeeded by the B7RLE. Just two were produced as Plaxton was tied in with the Alexander and Dennis merger to form Transbus.

With the collapse of Transbus, Plaxton looked for further production of single deck buses and the Pointer production was taken on by Alexander Dennis at the Falkirk plant. Their outcome was the Centro, which bears loose resemblance to the Bus 2000.
