Oddball Wednesday - Wright Cityranger

A Mercedes Benz based Wright Cityranger (Steven Hughes)
This week for Oddball Wednesday we take a look at a rare product from one of the biggest names on the British bus market; Wright.

Built for one year between 1993 and 1994 was the Wright Cityranger, based upon the Mercedes Benz O405 chassis. Just twenty two were produced; six for Midland Bluebird, one for Stevensons, one as a Mercedes Benz demonstrator and fourteen for Grampian.

The Cityranger was only available with the Mercedes Benz standard bus front, making it hard to distinguish from the similar Optare Prisma, as seen to the right in this photograph from Steven Hughes.

  1. Midland Bluebird is a Scottish operation based in Larbert, so to see one pictured heading for Rochdale, Lancashire is rather confusing.

    1. It is photographed during its later life. Photo is just to show what it was. Thanks.

  2. Might have been worth pointing that out then. Remember not all your readers are as knowledgable as you. Don't take them for granted.
