Oddball Wednesday - Plaxton Paramount bus

538ELX near the end of its career with Simonds (Steven Hughes)
The Plaxton Paramount, much like it modern day successors, was a popular model produced in great numbers for operators across Great Britain. Local operator Simonds of Botesdale took delivery of a very rare example...

538ELX was unusual for many reasons, and in many ways you could consider it to be a bus rather than a coach. Based upon a standard Bedford YNV chassis, it has 69 seats - bus seats that is, with an usual layout of 2+2 seating with 3+2 seating towards the rear. It also had an integrated destination blind in the front windscreen, and sliding bus-style opening windows - but retained the standard coach door.

Following use by Simonds, 538ELX became B507WVG and moved to Sanders Coaches, however, past this I have been unable to trace it. If not unique, 538ELX sure is a true rarity. If anybody has information of any identical or similarly bodied Plaxton Paramounts, I welcome your contact.
