Odds and Ends - 25/10/2015

Both Konectbus park and ride bendies are now back on the road
The final odds and ends of October, and what a lot to report. Today has seen the temporary Lynx Coasthopper service increase to an hourly operation, whilst next week sees a huge string of controversial cuts to Konectbus and Anglianbus services.

My good friend Matthew Webb was in contact on Saturday to inform me that he had sighted Anglianbus Wright Streetlite 353 MX60GXA, repainted white, and loaned Alexander Dennis Enviro400 YW14FHS were heading in convoy Southbound on the A11 back towards their leasing dealership.

You may remember a report from overcrowding issues on Konectbus Costessey Park and Ride buses as a result of one of the pair dedicated Mercedes Benz Citaros being off the road due to a fault. A few weeks later and all is back to normal with two bendies on the 510 and 511 respectively.

A few notes from Eastons of Stratton Strawless; Bova Futura B9AWE has been refurbished inside and up-seated to a seventy seater. Bova Magiq A18AWE has been reduced to a forty-nine seater, donating four seats to sister A17AWE which is now a fifty-seven.

Sanders 1009 YO02PCU on the X55 on Saturday morning
Lots of rare workings are on the list this week; on Monday, Sanders VanHool Alizee bodied VDL SB4000 803 YJ07JWK was in use on the 10 and X11. Meanwhile at First Jersey Dart 43863 EG52FGJ was in use on the Yellow Line 29 band of services and Wright Streetlite 47512 SN64CRZ on Orange Line 21 and 22. On Wednesday, First Norwich Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents 33164 LR02LYA and 33168 LR02LYG were both on the Blue Line 25 and 26, with Wright Streetlite 47507 SN64CRJ on Pink Line 11 and 12. 45177 ST58JPT made an unusual appearance on the 29 band of service, with Blue Line Gemini 2 36179 BD11CDY and Turquoise Line 32100 LT02ZCJ on the 38 in the evening. On Thursday, First Norwich Green Line branded Volvo B7L 66335 MV02VCA was in use on Turquoise Line 13 and Blue Line branded Gemini 2  us Friday saw the unusual use of Sanders Plaxton Premiere bodied Volvo B10M 1009 YO02PCU on the X55, in the evening a Plaxton Cheetah bodied Mercedes Benz Vario was used on a bus working out of Norwich Bus Station, however, it is not known which. Relitavely rare on Saturday was the use of loaned Wright Renown 60622 R785WKW on the 27.

Photo of the week is Konectbus 620 at Dereham on Friday
On Saturday afternoon, after a ride on Konectbus' wonderful service 72 to Great Yarmouth to kill time, myself and Sam Larke took a ride on the full route of the 2 and 2A from Norwich to Cromer, through to Sheringham for Holt on the 2A and following it through on one of two daily working stretching through to Dereham. We must be among very few passengers to complete the entire loop, as any 'normal' passenger see it is a totally illogical method of getting to Dereham. Anyway, a very enjoyable route which I would advise as many of you to take a ride on before it is withdrawn at the end of next week.

To round the week up, we had a Bumper Monday update, followed by a First Norwich repaint update and a new OurBus Fleetlist on Tuesday. Oddball Wednesday this week was the PMT Knype, which was followed by news of the swift departure of loaned 32479. On Thursday, news was published of another former Norfolk Green outstation closure and some lengthy Park and Ride diversions. On Friday, Sam Larke provided photographs of the first debranded 2 and 2A Alexander Dennis Enviro400 at Konectbus, whilst on Saturday Phil at Wrightbus sent more photographs of the First Norwich Wright Streetlite Maxs.

  1. How did you manage to travel on the 72 to Yarmouth on a Saturday when it only runs Monday to Friday?
