Megabus M37 withdrawn

Whilst on my big Stagecoach Adventure yesterday, I was contacted by George Monks with news that the Megabus service M37 is to withdrawn.

A check on the Megabus website by both us reveals that the service is cut from Birmingham to Great Yarmouth via Cambridge, the University of East Anglia and Norwich from September 1st 2015 - owing to low passengers numbers. The service is however retained between Cardiff and Birmingham. Elsewhere on the Megabus network, services between Holyhead and Bangor are also withdrawn and there a small handful of frequency reductions.

An appropriate question to answer here is why a Freestones Ford Transit minibus has been sighted on the M37 recently. This is used between Norwich and Great Yarmouth when there are only a few passengers for the latter - yesterday it was in use to ferry seven passengers to the seaside town.

  1. I would imagine it was cheaper to run the Transit into Great Yarmouth.
