First take on new Norwich service

Jamie Glasspoole was in touch yesterday with news of First taking on a new Norwich service, which is operated as a partially contracted tender.

Following the cancellation by Swift Taxis of Great Yarmouth, their Broadland Bus service 10 - which operates between Broadland High School near Wroxham and Sprowston via Frettenham, Hainford, Newton St Faiths, Horsham St Faiths and Spixworth - First Norwich have steeped up to take on the service which has operated since the beginning of the 2011-2012 school term.

As a result of low usage, under First operation the service will not operate through Hainford and St Faiths; instead operating direct via Frettenham, Spixworth and Old Catton.

Jamie also sends in this photograph of a passengers notice circulated around Broadland High School students using the service this morning.

  1. Hi Kieran, this service started a few years earlier than 2011 as Amza used to run it commercially. I think it was 2007/8 the year they first ran it before Swift took over.

    1. I believe that was a different service Joe. It was advertised as new in 2011 after a lot of school children were refused County Council funded travel.
