Around The UK: Buyouts, more new buses and uniform contraversy

Reliance, following a buyout, is to become Redwing North Kent
It's been a while since our last look at bus happenings on a nationwide scale, so apologies for any disappointment, but the last week and a half has brought out some very interesting happenings.

Some of the biggest news came just this week, being that Rotala has brought Wings Luxury Travel for a sum of £1.5 million. Wings, who operate a fleet of around twenty coaches of varying sizes, will transfer to Rotala's existing depot at Heathrow Airport and will join the existing Hallmark coaching operation.

With effect from June 1st, Redwing Coaches completed their buyout of Reliance Coaches following a management buyout earlier in the year, and Redwing running Reliance Coaches on behalf of the Griffin family who own the business. Reliance will become Redwing North Kent and further the commuter services offered by both operators.

In Blackpool, Blackpool Transport recently launched their fleet of ten new Mercedes Benz Citaros, which feature Euro 6 standard engines, E-leather seating, WiFi, charging points and additional space for wheelchairs and buggies. Stagecoach East Scotland also launched a fleet of eighteen Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMC bodied Volvo B5LHs at the end of May, representing a sum of around £5.3 million.

Causing some discussions over on Facebook, Reading Buses have recently ridden of shirts and ties in favour of black polo shirts with grey collars. It is said that it is designed to be more comfortable and look more modern.
